Chaminade University will light up its campus tonight,  Monday, Nov. 28, in front of Clarence T. C. Ching Hall. The night festivities will first start with a Las Posadas procession at 7 p.m. at Hale Lokelani, an on-campus student residence hall, 3140 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii. The celebration is free and open to the public. Refreshments and holiday activities will follow. Media is welcome as well. For more information, contact Kay Stone at kstone@chaminade.edu or (808) 440-4226. (Otherwise just come.) Chaminade is located in Kaimuki at 3140 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816.

Las Posadas, a Hispanic tradition celebrated in December, re-enacts the Bethlehem struggles of Joseph and Mary, who need a place to have their baby Jesus. Students will play the roles of Mary and Joseph, journeying throughout the university, stopping at Hale Lokelani, Hale Pohaku and Hale Malia and being turned away. The couple will end their journey at Clarence TC Ching Hall where Chaminade University’s president, Bro. Bernard Ploeger, SM, welcomes them. The couple briefly disappears and returns with their baby, and the lights will then be illuminated across campus.

Chaminade University invites members of the community to drive through its campus tonight and through December to enjoy the holiday lights and decorations, especially in front of Clarence T. C. Ching Hall and Henry Hall.
