Chaminade director of Native Hawaiian Partnerships, Henry Halenani Gomes ’74, died last night. Previously the Native Hawaiian Partnerships director served as biology professor and associate provost during his more than 30-year career at Chaminade. Chaminade has been blessed by his presence as well as by the rich legacy he leaves behind. Our prayers go out for the consolation of his family. With sadness, I write to inform you that our colleague and friend, Henry Gomes, died last night, September 18, after an extended struggle with cancer. Consistent with his and his family’s desires, funeral services will be held on campus, Friday, September 28. The schedule will be:
- 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Visitation, Mystical Rose Oratory
- 5:45 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection
- 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Reception, parking lot of Mystical Rose Oratory
The reception will include song and hula tributes.
Please join me in praying for Henry’s eternal rest as well as the consolation of his wife, Alyssa, his daughters, Jeannette and Rebecca, all of his extended family and many friends who mourn his death.
