Chaminade University has become the first private university in Hawaii to receive specialized accreditation for its business programs. The Board of Commissioners for the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) recently notified the university that it had granted Chaminade’s School of Business and Communication’s application for accreditation, following submission of a self-study and IACBE site visit this year. The business degrees accredited by IACBE include:

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting
  • Associate Arts in Business Administration.

“For our students and graduates, this specialized accreditation has several significant benefits, including enhanced reputation, evidence of program quality, and public accountability of the School for student learning,” said the dean of Chaminade University’s School of Business and Communication, Scott Schroeder.  “Our relationship with IACBE will also serve to promote continued innovation and creativity in teaching and learning through the sharing of best practices in business education.”

Chaminade president, Bro. Bernard Ploeger, SM, PhD added, “It has become increasingly important for higher education institutions to achieve specialized accreditation for their programs. Both graduates and their future employers benefit from this external quality assurance. We were very pleased by IACBE’s approval of accreditation.”

The mission of the IACBE is to promote and recognize excellence in business education in institutions of higher education worldwide, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, through specialized accreditation of business programs. IACBE’s approach to accreditation provides a unique “diamond-standard” value proposition for the quality assurance of business programs in higher education institutions around the world.  This value proposition is central and fundamental to the entire accreditation process and serves to distinguish IACBE as the leader in performance-and-results-based accreditation for colleges, universities and other higher education institutions worldwide that focus on student learning and success.
