Because Taize is known for its ecumenical initiatives, the Taize service was chosen specifically by Bishop Larry to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (held January 19-25 each year). Pope Paul VI established this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity back in 1964 at the conclusion of Vatican II.

 OPCA CONFERENCE PROPOSAL DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FEB. 15 Oceanic Popular Culture Association, which will hold its conference in Honolulu on May 23-24, at Chaminade University, has extended its panel/ paper proposal deadline to Feb. 15.  All topics and proposals are welcome, particularly those treating cultural productions within and/or about the Oceanic region. Possible topics for panels and individual papers include but are not limited to the following areas: Oceanic/Pacific Culture and Literature, Japanese Popular Culture, Film Studies, Hawai‘i and the American West, Adaptation, Television Studies, African-American Studies, Poetry and Poetics, Exotica/Hawaiiana, Children’s/Young Adult Popular Literature Religion and Popular Culture Philosophy and Popular Culture Indigenous Literatures Surf Culture.  Abstracts/Proposals for individual papers or 3-4 paper panels may be directed to Cheryl Edelson at oceanicpca@gmail.com

Contained within their catalog are over 2,332 videos that range from teaching classroom management to photographic restoration and more. As a bonus, all of these video tutorials are accessible 24/7 from their website – http://www.lynda.com.  Login, follow prompts to access, and select login though your organization or school. When prompted, use www.chaminade.edu then your CID and password. This is the same login and password that is used for the portal. HOGAN / AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK NONPROFIT BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION – 2014 The Hogan/American Savings Bank Nonprofit Business Plan Competition at Chaminade University is open to nonprofit organizations planning to start new ventures that will benefit society. Held every other year, the competition aims to encourage excellence in nonprofit planning and help make new and innovative social enterprises a reality. The competition also hopes to stimulate public interest in the nonprofit sector.
