New!MOCK DISASTER EVENT–SIMULATED TERRORISM EVENT

WHEN: Thurs, Feb. 20, from (9:30 to 11:30 am)

WHERE: Starts at Clarence TC Ching Conference Center in Eiben, moves to Henry Hall Courtyard disaster and then back to conference center for debriefing.

WHAT: Inter-Professional Education (IPE) event in which nursing students and forensic students care for “victims” and assess a (mock) disaster scene

WHO: Nursing faculty, community healthcare providers (mostly from The Queen’s Medical Center), CUH nursing & forensic students, and CUH volunteer “victims”

NATIONAL WEAR RED FRIDAY–2/7
WHAT: Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Wear red to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. Joint photo at 1pm with more information on how you can help fight heart disease available.

2014 CENTER FOR PACIFIC ISLANDS STUDIES (CPIS) STUDENT CONFERENCE SEEK SUBMISSIONS
WHAT:
CPIS seeks student papers and projects that address and/or utilize Pacific forms of creative expression as methods of critical scholarship; including but not limited to papers, performances, poetry, creative writing, films, and visual art.  Creative submissions must be accompanied with a brief written statement regarding the critical nature of the project, including any relevant source citations. Abstracts and project statements should be no longer than 200 words. Artists, please indicate the medium and size of your work. Audiovisual samples should be no longer than two minutes in duration and should be in a standard media file format

The Hogan/American Savings Bank Nonprofit Business Plan Competition at Chaminade University is open to nonprofit organizations planning to start new ventures that will benefit society. Held every other year, the competition aims to encourage excellence in nonprofit planning and help make new and innovative social enterprises a reality. CLIENT SERVICES OFFERS EASY ACCESS TO VIDEO TUTORIALS
Client Services now hosts access to Lynda.com, learning and training site that uses video tutorials. Accessible 24/7 from website (http://www.lynda.com).  Login, follow prompts, and select login by school. Use www.chaminade.edu then your CID and password. This is the same login and password that is used for portal. Once logged in, select and choose training video.

STOP SMOKING PROGRAM

WHAT: Smoking cessation program to help smokers quit smoking through social support, education, nicotine replacement, and relapse prevention.

Recently, Chaminade University’s smoking policy was revised.  The number of designated smoking areas have been reduced and moved.  In an effort to promote health and wellness at Chaminade, the Center for Medical Psychology is offering free and confidential help to those who would like to quit smoking.
SMOKING AREAS CHANGED–
The two formerly designated smoking areas once located on second road are no longer designated sites.  Please use the designated smoking area located on the Diamond Head side of Eiben Hall. If you should have any questions, please contact Tammy P.N. Hohu in Finance & Facilities at tammy.hohu@chaminade.edu or 739-8583.

During the winter, spring and summer breaks, Campus News will be on hiatus.
