It’s a first for the School of Nursing, the Master of Pastoral Theology program and the Master of Educational Leadership for Hawaiian Focused Charter Schools program.
Chaminade University will hold its 2014 Spring Commencement on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m., in the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena. Nearly 500 students will receive their degrees at the free public event.
Highlights of this spring’s commencement include the inaugural graduates of the School of Nursing, the Master of Pastoral Theology program and the Master of Educational Leadership for Hawaiian Focused Charter Schools program.
Chaminade regent and president of Red Monarch Strategies Inc., Bennette E. Misalucha, will be keynote speaker. Passionate about Filipino-American issues, she is also managing editor of the Fil-Am Courier. An alumnus of the Pacific Century Fellows program, she is also the president of WTS-Hawai’i Chapter, a vice chair at the Filipino Community Center, a past president and current director of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, and a past chair and current director of the Girl Scouts of Hawaii. In addition, Misalucha serves on the board of Friends of East West Center, Oahu Transit Services and the O‘ahu Arts Center.
The salutatory student speakers will be for the undergraduates, Caitlin Marie Dinneen, receiving her B.S. degree in Early Education Magna Cum Laude, and for the postgraduates, Justin Alai Tuiasosopo, receiving his M.B.A. in accounting.
Baccalaureate Service followed by the Academic Honors Ceremony will be held the day before commencement, on May 11 in Mamiya Theatre, at Chaminade University. Family and friends of graduates are cordially invited to attend.
