EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT EXTENDED TO  SEPTEMBER 5

The Eleventh Annual Nonprofit Organizations One-day Seminar, sponsored by Chaminade University, will take place on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 7:45 a.m. (registration) to 4:30 p.m., at the Pagoda Hotel in Honolulu.

The seminar will provide useful information on current issues and changing requirements that affect every nonprofit and provide insights that will help organizations deal with the unique challenges facing them today. Recent legislative and regulatory changes make this year’s seminar especially relevant. The venue is an excellent opportunity for nonprofits to get caught up on the new rules, including new rules on Form 990 and Act 174 relating to charitable trusts and nonprofit organizations. Experts will guide attendees through the tricky maze of tax-exempt compliance and review the categories and governing instruments for tax-exempt organizations. They will also update attendees on new laws, which protect a nonprofit organization’s status, the audit accounting standard, use of tax-exempt entities, and strategies for maintaining a tax-exempt status.

The lineup of speakers include Charles P. Rettig of Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, P.C. of Beverly Hills, California, Hugh Jones of the Department of the Attorney General, Honolulu, Hawaii, Benjamin Brower, Administrative Rules Specialist, State of Hawaii, Terry George, President of Harold K.L. Castle Foundation in Kailua, Reg Baker, Executive Vice President of HMAA, Kilikina Mahi, Consultant at KM Consulting, Richard Kido, Associate Professor of Accounting at Chaminade University, and Wayne Tanna, Professor of Accounting at Chaminade University.
