August 29, 2014 (HONOLULU)–Chaminade University announced that its Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration degree has received approval from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission to be offered completely online, beginning October 2014. This represents an additional undergraduate offering supplementing the university’s existing four associate programs and ten bachelor programs available online by the Office of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE).
“Chaminade has been offering an undergraduate Business Administration degree in a traditional classroom setting since 1957, so we are very excited to broaden the delivery method of one of our premiere undergraduate programs to new audiences, namely working-adult learners and military students,” said Cindy Janus, Director of PACE.
Last summer, Chaminade became the first private university in Hawaii to receive specialized accreditation by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) for its business programs.
“For our extended learning community, many of whom are non-traditional students, the online offerings are critical to making a college education accessible, said Dr. Helen Whippy, Chaminade Provost. “We are pleased to continue to offer high quality business education programs via the online format to better serve the community.”
Key features of the online program include small classes (a maximum of 16 students per course), personal attention from Chaminade faculty with real world experience, opportunities to use course projects to address real-time issues in the workplace, and opportunities to apply program expertise to service learning projects.
“The BA in Business Administration will offer an important educational resource that is not currently available to students on Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, or Maui from a Hawai’i-based university,” said Dr. Scott Schroeder, Dean of the School of Business and Communication. In addition to the BA in Business Administration, Chaminade’s PACE Office also offers an Associate in Arts (AA) in Business Administration and a BA in Management, both completely online.
Chaminade’s newly reorganized PACE Office administers the online and evening undergraduate, graduate and military programs, with four 10-week terms per year and rolling admissions. These programs are designed for working professionals and busy adults seeking to enhance their skill set, complete a degree program or pursue a new career.
