FORMER COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF U.S. PACIFIC COMMAND AND U.S. AMBASSADOR TO CHINA OFFERS INSIGHT ON MARCH 25

Chaminade University will feature The Honorable Joseph W. Prueher (Adm., USN, Ret.) at its annual Sino-Capitalism Forum on March 25, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Waialae Country Club. The forum is sponsored by Bank of Hawaii with partial funding provided by the Regent Stanley W. Hong Endowed Fund for Distinguished Asia-Pacific Speakers and Scholars. The Honorable James F. Moriarty will introduce the former ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Registration and refreshments start at 3:30 p.m. Adm. Prueher’s talk begins at 4 p.m., followed by discussion until 5:30 p.m. Although the lecture is free and open to the public, seating is limited, so an RSVP to Chaminade University is required, at rsvp@chaminade.edu, or (808) 735-4816.

In 1999, Admiral Prueher completed 35 years in the U.S. Navy with his last assignment in Hawaii serving as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command (CINCPAC); the largest military command in the world. He then served two Presidents as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 1999 to 2001. A member of The Council on Foreign Relations, he is also Vice Chairman of the National Committee on U.S. – China Relations. A graduate and former Commandant at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Adm. Prueher has received numerous national and international awards for his distinguished service.
