Award-winning author Sia Figiel will read from her new novel, Freelove, at Chaminade University at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Hale Hoaloha.
The reading is free and open to the public while space is available.
Figiel is an award-winning, internationally-acclaimed writer from Matautu Tai, Samoa. Her novel, Where We Once Belonged, won the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize, Best First Book for the South-East Asia/South Pacific region and has been translated to German, French, Danish, Spanish, and Catalan.
Described by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Diaz as being “evocative, smart and lyrical. A gorgeous countersong to Coming of Age in Samoa,” Freelove is Figiel’s sensual second novel.
